Cosmetic Analyses
Cosmetic products must undergo comprehensive analytical procedures to ensure human health is not compromised and to meet regulatory requirements. Our accredited laboratory, which commenced its services in Germany, provides reliable, rapid, and internationally standardized solutions for cosmetic analyses.
Why are Analyses Required for Cosmetic Products?
Cosmetic products come into direct contact with sensitive areas such as skin, hair, nails, and the oral cavity. Therefore, their ingredients must be meticulously examined. Incorrect formulations can lead to allergic reactions, irritations, toxic effects, and long-term health issues. For this reason, products must be tested for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance prior to their market launch.
Key Cosmetic Tests Offered by Us
Among others, our laboratory in Germany conducts the following fundamental cosmetic analyses:
- Challenge Test: This test assesses whether the preservatives contained in cosmetic products adequately protect against microbial contamination. For this purpose, the product is intentionally inoculated with microorganisms, and the efficacy of the preservation system is measured.
- Stability Test (Shelf Life): This test determines whether the physical, chemical, and microbiological properties of the product change over time. The shelf life and the suitability of the packaging are verified through this test.
- Microbiological Analyses: These indicate whether cosmetic products are contaminated with microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and molds. This is crucial for product safety.
- Claim Substantiation / Non-Claim Analyses: These analyses verify the accuracy of statements on product labels such as “paraben-free”, “alcohol-free”, or “sulfate-free”. They ensure transparency and build consumer trust.
- Heavy Metal Test: This determines the presence and quantity of heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium. It is conducted to prevent toxic risks in cosmetic products.
- Surfactant Tests: These analyze the type and quantity of surfactants responsible for foam formation in shampoos, soaps, and detergents. They evaluate the product's cleansing power and its effect on the skin.
- Detergent Analyses: These test the efficacy of active ingredients in detergents and their compliance with legal limits. Applicable to both household and industrial products.
- Soap Analyses: For conventional and liquid soaps, parameters such as pH value, free alkali, moisture content, and microbiological quality are tested. This is performed for both quality control and verification of regulatory compliance.
